Short Description |
Efficiency and reliability of Himalaya made the success of this model. The uncluttered lines, the thin indexes and the elegant "off-centered small second hand" make this model timeless. Himalaya 1954 Chrome Silver with silver case, silver dial and brown croco strap has a classic and vintage style. The watch keeps its authenticity, its French retro design is faithful to the original one.
History : Created in 1954, this model has been imagined by Fred LIP during a chat with one his friend Lionnel Terray who was high mountains guide. Then his friend Maurice Herzog wore a Himalaya watch when he was climbing the Annapurna (Himalaya summit of more than 8 000 meters). This expedition was a success and Maurice Herzog is still present in French memories. Thanks to this achievement, the Himalaya watch marked the French history and the watch has been recognized as one of the most reliable, strong and confident watch. Indeed, “nine out of ten of the best alpinists have chosen the Himalaya watch for its amazing resistance to elements and impacts”, said a LIP advertisement, in 1959. LIP was also the official French cyclist race (Tour de France) timekeeper and a Himalaya watch was offered to the best sportsman of the day. |
